Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said, the next parliamentary election is likely to be held in December 27 this year.
He said, The current parliament will not be dissolved as the present government’s tenure will expire on January 25. However, a smaller cabinet will be formed dissolving the current one.
He made the statement while holding a meeting with the newly elected mayor and ward councillors of Sylhet City Corporation at his Secretariat office today.
Replying to a query, he said, No representatives from the BNP or the civil society will be made the members of the new cabinet. Rather, the members will be chosen from the current cabinet while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lead it.
